Weekend Getaway Before Chaos Begins

This past weekend, the boyfriend and I went on a little getaway. We both wanted to spend a little time with each other away from our regular environment and routines, plus my classes start back up on the 22nd and it is going to be a very busy semester. Knowing we won’t be seeing as much of each other the next few months while I focus on school, we though a little getaway to my favorite hotel in New York City would be just right.

We stayed at Yotel, which is the coolest hotel ever. I have stayed there a handful of times already and I just love the atmosphere. It’s so cute and cool. The rooms have nice views and the most amazing showers. The beds are super comfy, too. Yotel also has some pretty great food. I would also say that the rooms are priced very well for a hotel in NYC.

We left Friday night, much later than expected, because my boyfriend got rear-ended on his way to my house. But once he came over, we walked to the train station and we were on our way, or so we thought. Our train was delayed like half an hour which was super annoying. But again, eventually we were actually on our way into the city. Originally we were going to walk from Penn Station to Yotel cause it isn’t really that far, but by the time we got there it was so cold and windy there was no way. We got a cab, got to the hotel, checked in, went to the room, and laid down for about 10 minutes before we realized how hungry we were. I immediately knew I wanted to get some sliders and have a few beers from a sports bar I went to last time I stayed at Yotel. The bar was a 10 minute walk, so we bundled up and headed out. I was so happy, I had been waiting to eat those sliders and waffle fries with their honey mustard bbq sauce for MONTHS! (I had them when I was in the city for Gen Beauty) It was well worth the wait because it was all just as greasy and as good as I remembered. After eating and drinking we headed back to the hotel, took showers, and went to bed.

Saturday morning I was up bright and early, and hungry. I was ready for some breakfast. I just had to wait for my darling boyfriend to wake up. When he finally did get up, we hit the breakfast buffet and it was PRETTY GOOD. I gotta say I wasn’t expecting so much good food, but Yotel usually surpasses my expectations. After breakfast we went back to the room and watched Diners Drive-Ins and Dives until we were both ready for lunch! We walked around to see what our options were, and we found a little sandwich place about a block away and we both got a super yummy grilled chicken sandwich. From there we walked back, and I napped for a few hours lol. We didn’t do much other than stream Vine compilations on our TV until we wanted dinner. We had a hard time agreeing on what to eat, but eventually decided on pizza. We walked to the closest pizzeria, got an entire pie, hit CVS and grabbed some drinks and contact solution cause I forgot to bring mine lol oops, and went back to the room, ate pizza in bed and fell asleep.

Sunday morning arrived and we were ready for more burgers, but before we ate we had to shower, pack up, and check out. We hit Yotel’s brunch and we both ordered their burger. It was super delicious. After we ate, we just sat at our table for a little while and talked and looked out at our beautiful view of the city. But we had to get going, so we made our way to the train station and back to my town. Then, we walked to my house and our little weekend getaway was over.

I was so happy to spend my weekend in my favorite place eating a ton of food! It was so wonderful, in fact I tried to vlog it but I was too busy enjoying it to really capture much.

Thanks for reading if you made it all the way through, and if you watched my lil video thanks for that, too!

🙂 Fran
